After hosting various winter sports championships in the snow, Winterberg will turn into a venue for another world cup during the summer. On 26 and 27 August 2017, the UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup will come to the Hochsauerland region. Over an 800-meter-long route, four mountain bikers for each race will compete against each other in a knock-out system. Over the weekend, hobby cyclists can also try out the world cup route. Winterberg is one of eight stops for the international racing series, and the only one in Germany.
The holiday location already becomes a mountain bike hotspot during the spring period. From 25 to 28 May 2017, 1,800 mountain bikers will show off their skills in downhill races or acrobatic jumps at the iXS Dirt Masters, Europe’s biggest freeride festival. A crowd of around 35,000 spectators is expected.
