The rock’n’popmuseum in Gronau is being refurbished: By the summer of 2018, the indoor areas, technology and exhibition will be updated. On 12 November, the museum will open its doors to visitors for the last time before the temporary closure. The main changes include the redesign of the permanent exhibition, and its relocation from the basement floor to the ground floor. In future, visitors will be able to experience the importance of pop music for rebellion, clothing and dance. Until now, the exhibition was structured chronologically. A club area for alternating exhibitions and live concerts is planned for the building basement.
The rock’n’popmuseum has acquired 1.6 million euros for the modernisation measures, including funds from the federal and state budgets, the town of Gronau, the NRW-Stiftung foundation and the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe regional association.
