The project, “NRW als Destination für Urban Lifestyle und Szene”, or #urbanana, has won the most important award in culture marketing. At the Cultural Brands Gala „Night of Cultural Brands“ in Berlin, the community project from North Rhine-Westphalia was presented with the “European Cultural Tourism Region 2017” award.
The goal of this EU-funded project, which is run by Tourismus NRW together with KölnTourismus, Düsseldorf Tourismus and Ruhr Tourismus, is to network the creative industries and tourism, and to promote shared communication using different formats. The idea appears to be working. When the award was presented on 9 November 2017, the jury of experts praised the development of new partnerships with local scene media in NRW in particular, as well as the promotion of cooperation between creatives and the tourism industry and the urban community.
The Cultural Brand Awards are presented to service providers, investors and tourism regions every year in seven competition categories for the best marketing strategies from the culture sector.
